Bio-Oregon is committed to exploring the frontiers of nutrition and is constantly looking to improve our products. To be able to manage valuable R&D we have to stay in close contact with our customers to understand their problems and challenges and then
look for solutions together.
Our central Research & Development department undertakes major research projects on a variety of fish species. Established in 1989, our research facility employs an international team of highly skilled research and development specialists, supported by
a substantial annual investment in advanced R&D. Resources include a top grade analytical laboratory, a research station and a fish feed pilot plant.
In addition to its in-house personnel and resources, Bio-Oregon works closely with numerous universities and research institutes in international partnerships thereby drawing together the best available expertise from around the world.
The nutrition department at Bio-Oregon’s research facility identifies the dietary needs of different fish species and establishes how different raw materials can be used to meet those nutritional requirements. Identifying alternatives to fishmeal and fish oil represents
a significant area of research. Over the past ten years, scientific work has generated results that can be used to support reductions in the fishmeal and fish oil content of our products by partial substitution with vegetable proteins and a blend of vegetable oils. These findings contribute to the development of sustainable, modern aquaculture. |
